League Champions to face Cup Winners in Season Opener

With the Winter League season approaching fast, champions Longniddry are due to open the new campaign on 7th October at home to Gullane, winners of the first ever Cup competition last term.

But the champions will be without last season's skipper Chris Wood, who is set to line up for newly promoted North Berwick.  And his new teammates will be grateful to add Wood's experience to their line up as they square up to local rivals Tantallon in their first assignment.

There's more derby action at the west end of the county as Royal Musselburgh, clean sweep Division 2 winners last season, start off with a short trip up the road to Musselburgh.

In the pick of the 2nd Division ties Haddington travel to Craigielaw, whilst Gifford will take encouragement from last season's hard earned draw at Dunbar when they host the eleven times league champions in their season opener, this time on home soil.

Elsewhere Whitekirk play host to Musselburgh Old, whilst Kilspindie make the journey up to Prestongrange where they face Thorntree. Glen will be hoping for a fast start at home to Castle Park, following last season's exit from the top flight without recording a league win.
