There were six matches in last Sunday’s schedule, and each of them resulted in a win for the home team.

So that leaves Longniddry on top of the pile, and early season rumours that the defending champions may be struggling for players seem wide of the mark.  Indeed there’s a fresh look to the Longniddry side with Peter Henderson stepping up as captain and Lewis Thomson assisting, but perhaps their next outing will be their sternest test to date when they travel to Royal Musselburgh for their first away fixture of the season.

Down the coast North Berwick continued their encouraging start to their first season in the top flight.  Visitors Royal Musselburgh struggled to make headway early on as the home pairings were quick to establish leads in the top four ties.  In the end Lewis Reid and Scott Cunningham came from behind to beat Craig Hardie and Horry Lawson on the final green, whilst Kenny Fee and Robert Cochrane brought home a point for the visitors at the tail, but all that came after North Berwick had secured the match.  Next up for Gordon Milligan’s side is a home tie against Gullane.

And it was Jeff Aitken’s Gullane team who retuned the biggest win in the top flight as they chalked up a 4-1 win against Tantallon.  However the visitors may well feel this was a chance that got away – they were never out of contention, but each of the final two ties went against them by the narrowest of margins.

Meanwhile there was controversy in the 2^nd Division where Whitekirk moved to the top when opponents Craigielaw called off on the morning of the match, the default 5-0 win catapulting the hosts up the table without having to play a stroke.

Glen are behind on point difference only.  They sat out Sunday’s schedule following their narrow win the previous week, but will be in action again this weekend when they travel to Dunbar.

Kilspindie also have maximum points following a reasonably comfortable home showing against Gifford, whilst Thorntree saw off the challenge from Castle Park.
