East Lothian defeated hosts Midlothian in the opening match of this year's Lothians & Fife winter league, played at Baberton on Sunday.  And despite fielding two home club players (Colin Malone and Dougie Waugh) in their lineup, the hosts were unable to prevent a strong East team moving straight to the top of the table.

West Lothian defeated Fife by the same margin so they share top spot with East, setting up a mouth watering match in a fortnight's time when the two sides go head to head at Drumoig.
