Kilspindie and Haddington promoted

Haddington bounced back from last weekend's disappointing home defeat with a win at Gifford that secured their return to the top flight.

It was the third time in as many seasons that Darryl Souness's side have faced an away match in their final league assignment needing a win for promotion.  They came up agonisingly short with a draw at Royal Musselburgh in 2014, then lost out narrowly at Craigielaw last year.

And this year's match was no walk in the park with Gifford also challenging for promotion, but Haddington fought hard and this time they came out on top after winning each of the first three ties on the final green.

Meanwhile Kilspindie won a cliffhanger away to neighbours Craigielaw.  With the second division title at stake the top four ties were shared two apiece - all of them completed by the fifteenth. That left everything hinging on the final match, and in the end it was Aaron Hall's excellent approach to sixteen that broke the deadlock. When the youngster holed a putt to win the seventeenth a few minutes later the victory, and the league title, belonged to Kilspindie.
