The league committee's decision this season to allow ladies to play has attracted some interest in the national press.

Gifford's Diane Martin is, to date, the only lady golfer to have turned out in the Winter League - but her last appearance was some 25 years ago shortly before she turned pro.  Since 1990 the league constitution has required teams to be comprised of male amateur golfers, but that all changed in September.
