Any golf club within the county of East Lothian may apply to join the East Lothian Clubs Winter League. Before making an application a club should be sure they can fulfil the responsibilities of member clubs as outlined in the constitution.

These responsibilities include:

• making their course available for play as required by the league schedule, generally permitting play from medal tees and to permanent greens, and allowing visiting players courtesy without payment of green fees
• making advanced tee reservations for all home fixtures, rescheduling matches where necessary, and providing booking details in a timely manner to their opponents and the league secretary
• fulfilling all approved fixtures, giving as much notice as possible to their opponents (and the secretary) of any difficulty in fulfilling a fixture, and making every effort to rearrange postponed fixtures within the timeframes laid down in the conditions of competition

A prospective member club should nominate a match manager when making their application. The match manager will be the principle point of contact for all matters concerning competitions organised by ELCWL and will represent his/her club on the league's general council.  The match manager's contact details will be made available to match managers of other member clubs and will normally be displayed on the league website. Match managers should ensure they are familiar with the conditions of each competition organised by the league.

The applicant club's committee should give proper consideration to the above requirements and responsibilities before committing to joining the league.

Applications must be submitted using the 'New Member Club application form' (downloadable here) which should be sent to the league secretary.  For a new club to be accepted as a league member their application must be approved by the general council of the East Lothian Clubs Winter League at a general meeting.  Any application received before 1st September will be considered at the AGM in September of the same year.  The general council will normally consider approving the new club as a member starting in the following September.
