Castle Park resign

Posted by Torquil McInroy on Nov 05 2018 at 04:00PM PST in 2019-20

Castle Park have resigned from the Winter League.  Having been unsuccessful in trying to arrange a meeting with the club, the committee had no option but to accept their resignation.  Castle Park are no longer a member club.

This leaves fourteen clubs, and they will be divided into two divisions of seven next season 2019-20. This does impact promotion and relegation in the current season. It has been determined that only one team will be relegated from the six that remain in Division 1, whilst the top two in Division 2 will be promoted. There is no longer a need for a play-off between teams in opposite divisions.

Matches played to date (in the current season) involving Castle Park are void and will have no bearing on the league table.

In the Cup, Haddington's home match against North Berwick now becomes a quarter final, but the date remains unchanged on 20th January 2019.

The committee felt the main losers in this sudden resignation are the Castle Park players, several of whom are juniors and members of other competing clubs. Therefore with regard to Rule 2 (Eligibility), no player will be assumed to have represented Castle Park during the current season. A player who has turned out for Castle Park may therefore play for another club for which he or she is eligible.
