Haddington drop out as as promotion and relegation battles intensify

Posted by Torquil McInroy on Jan 06 2018 at 04:00PM PST in 2019-20

Defeat away to the league leaders left Haddington four points adrift at the foot of Division 1 as the league swung back into action following the Christmas break. Combined with the point Craigielaw took from a home draw with Musselburgh, that makes relegation for Craig O'Neill's side now a mathematical certainty.

But there was better news for Tantallon who beat local rivals North Berwick to keep their survival hopes alive. The result meant a third win in four outings for the five time champions, but they remain in the relegation zone and still need a minimum of four points (but probably five) from their remaining three league matches.

In the 2nd Division their were good wins for Glen and Longniddry as the race for promotion heats up. Glen's win (away to Kilspindie) all but finished their opponents' chances with Castle Park continuing to lead the way in the lower flight.
